Biografía de artista
Sarah Houghton nació en Colombia en 1968. En los libros de la biblioteca de su casa familiar se encontró con grandes artistas que se hicieron sus cómplices: sumergida por horas en el solar de su casa, re-creando nuevos escenarios, transformando objetos, uniendo imágenes y jugando a pensar que las plantas más pequeñas eran los arboles más gigantes de sus ciudades imaginarias. Allí nació su amor por el arte. Con el transcurso del tiempo, Sara se concentró aún más en su práctica como artista plástica, asumiendo el compromiso de darle vida a la función social del arte y a la misión del artista frente al mundo.
Luego, su compromiso se desarrolló aún más cuando decidió ingresar a la academia. Como artista, siempre se ha sentido fascinada por las formas fragmentadas, por las memorias que evocan recuerdos, regalando al espectador una experiencia visual poética. Así, piensa que la reconstrucción a través de los recuerdos es importante para procesos de reflexión estética y vital. Con su pulso invisible y su capacidad para engendrar nuevas realidades y partiendo de la necesidad de la memoria como elemento fundamental en todo proceso de recreación de la historia, las imágenes que captura Sarah durante su trasegar son solo diminutos fragmentos: toma distintos materiales que luego re-significa a través del collage y el arte objeto. Aprecia muchísimo esta conexión, ya que siente que el intercambio artístico entre los materiales y el artista ofrece grandes posibilidades que permiten nuevos lenguajes.
Sarah vive y trabaja actualmente en Bogotá. Ella está en constante producción de su obra plástica, además, dicta clases a niños y adultos para ayudarles a fomentar el mismo entusiasmo que ella siente por el arte.
En su actividad profesional, Sarah ha participado en varias exposiciones tanto individuales como colectivas a nivel nacional e internacional.
Biography
Sarah Houghton was born in Colombia in 1968. In the library of her family home, she met great artists who became accomplices: submerged for hours in the garden of her house, re-creating new scenarios, transforming objects, uniting images and playing to think that the smaller plants were the most giant trees of their imaginary cities. There was born his love for art. In the course of time, Sara concentrated more on her practice as a plastic artist, assuming the commitment to give life to the social function of art and the artist's mission in the world.
Then, his commitment developed even more when he decided to enter the academy. As an artist, she has always been fascinated by fragmented forms, memories that evoke memories, giving the spectator a visual poetic experience. Thus, she thinks that reconstruction through memories is important for aesthetic and vital reflection. With its invisible pulse and its capacity to generate new realities and starting from the necessity of the memory like fundamental element in all process of recreation of the history, the images that capture Sarah during its transferring are only tiny fragments: it takes different materials that later re -Means through collage and art object. She greatly appreciates this connection, since he feels that the artistic exchange between the materials and the artist offers great possibilities that allow new languages.
Sarah currently lives and works in Bogotá. She is in constant production of her plastic work. In addition, she gives art classes to children and adults, to help them discover the same enthusiasm she feels for art.
In her professional activity, Sarah has participated in several exhibitions both individual and collective nationally and internationally.
